Stone masonry · Mount Compass · Since 2005
Bespoke stonework for premium properties across the Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island.
The goat mindset
We tackle complex brick and stonework projects with precision and expertise. No two properties are the same, so no two solutions should be either.
Services
Whether preserving the past, creating the future, or working with nature’s gifts, we bring the same sure-footed approach to every project.
Restoration
Bringing heritage masonry back to life while preserving its authentic character. We respect the craftsmanship of the past, using traditional techniques and period-appropriate materials to restore brick and stone features to their former glory.
Architectural stone
Contemporary stone features that define modern luxury living. From striking entry walls to sophisticated outdoor entertainment areas, we craft architectural elements that seamlessly integrate with today’s design vision.
Hardscape
Sustainable stonework using materials from your own property and local sources. We work with nature, not against it, creating paths, retaining walls and hardscape features from stones found on-site or sourced from nearby quarries.
Projects
We’ve helped property owners across South Australia’s most beautiful regions achieve their stonework vision.
Modern architectural build
A striking curved stone wall showcasing the full spectrum of local stone varieties in a single architectural feature. Mixed fieldstone, bluestone and sandstone create a natural colour graduation from earth tones to deep greys, each stone carefully selected and placed to follow the wall’s flowing geometry.
Architectural integration
A contemporary home showcasing seamless stone and steel integration across multiple architectural elements.
Eco hardscape
Multi-level stone terracing using locally sourced sandstone blocks creates functional landscape transitions while maintaining natural character.
Architectural stone
A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace anchoring a modern living space with commanding presence. Adelaide Hills sandstone shows natural colour variation and texture.
What our clients say
The joy of Rohan’s work for us has been how he’s fashioned a strong ageless structure from the stone harvested from the earth below our house. The large wall stands as a buffer against the wild winds that emanate from the west, and the choice of stone colour, size and shape was perfect. Every time you look at the walls you see something new.
Rohan and his team exceeded our (very high) expectations. We waited for some time to secure Rohan’s services because he was highly recommended by our architect. We were keen to use bluestone from our own property and this placed additional demands on the skills of the stonemasons. The commitment shown by Rohan and his team to accommodating our creative ideas and delivering a wonderful outcome was beyond what we could have asked. We recommend Rohan without reservation.
Rohan’s attention to detail is incredible. Our stone entrance wall perfectly complements our home’s architecture and has become the talking point for every visitor. No kidding, this is quality craftsmanship.
Heritage restoration requires someone who truly understands stone. Rohan brought our 1870s cottage back to life while respecting its history. The G.O.A.T. indeed!
About
I launched Billy Goat in 2005, but my connection to masonry runs much deeper.
Growing up in the Adelaide Hills in an old stone cottage my father restored, I watched him build everything from scratch: big stone gable ends, recycled red bricks, materials from a small local quarry. Those traditional methods, lasting and beautiful, never left me.
